Sakina for Android — Privacy policy
Updated: 24 October 2026 · Beta 1 (1.3, build 10)
Location is optional. Manual cities and coordinates work without location permission. Android location supplies coordinates for on-device calculations; the developer does not receive them. Automatic location resolves the timezone from bundled geographic boundaries before requesting optional city labels. Compass sensors are used locally.
Article refresh contacts WordPress.com, which receives ordinary request metadata such as IP address. Articles are cached locally. Source links open in your browser under the destination's policy.
Optional feedback sends category, message, optional reply email and selected attachment over HTTPS to the developer's existing support service. Cloudflare Workers, D1 and R2 process and store submissions; Resend delivers notifications to the private support inbox. The service stores a receipt reference and an IP hash for spam prevention. Feedback is retained until the developer deletes it; automatic expiry is not implemented. Request deletion from Settings > Feedback with the original receipt reference. Information is used for support, corrections and app improvement, not advertising. The private recipient address is hidden.
Imported audio is copied into app-private storage; PDF access covers only the file you select. Wallpaper export saves only to a destination you choose. Broad storage access is not requested.
Prayer reminders use Android notifications and optional alarm access. Full adhan starts when you tap its notification. Audio playback uses a visible foreground service with pause/stop controls; explicit exit or dismissing the app task stops playback. Device sound and battery settings can affect reminders.
Delete imported audio in its audio screen. Clear app storage or uninstall to remove local data. Revoke permissions in Android Settings. Support and privacy requests: Settings > Feedback.
Quran services — Quran streaming contacts MP3Quran and sends ordinary network request information, including the requested reciter/surah and IP address. Optional downloaded recordings stay in private storage. Quran meanings contact QuranEnc with the selected language and surah, and are cached with edition version and full footnotes. Italian meanings open the publisher when version information is unavailable. Quran text is never machine translated.
Automatic GPS updates occur only while Sakina is open. Android's geocoder may contact a system/provider service to resolve coordinates to a city. Timezone lookup uses bundled Timezone Boundary Builder 2026d land boundaries derived from OpenStreetMap, independent of interface language and device timezone. Where a timezone cannot be resolved, the saved location is retained with an error; manual city/timezone selection remains available. Selecting a manual city disables GPS. No background location permission is requested.
Optional article translation uses Google Translate through Google ML Kit on the device. Translation models download over Wi-Fi, roughly 30 MB per language. Google ML Kit collects technical diagnostics and usage information, including device/app details, installation identifiers, performance/events/errors and configured languages; Firebase installations and remote configuration are used by the SDK. Review Google's privacy policy and the ML Kit data disclosure documentation. Article text is processed locally. Automatic translations are labelled; originals remain available.
Google-powered automatic translations are supplied without warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or noninfringement.
Timezone boundary data: Timezone Boundary Builder 2026d, © its contributors and © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under ODbL 1.0. Data, licence, source link and the converter are included in the source project.
Optional voice and media features — Personal Aza and book files are copied into private app storage; saved HTTPS links open only on your request. Optional Arabic voice counting requests microphone access while the app is visible. Android speech recognition prefers offline/on-device processing; the selected speech service may process audio online when on-device recognition is unavailable. Stop or leaving/backgrounding the app ends listening. Android Auto accesses your audio catalogue and saved Aza through the media service. Optional reference sites receive standard browser data after you choose to open them; Sakina adds no prayer coordinates or settings to those URLs. Google Play may display its native review flow after eligible usage or your explicit request.
Private book library — A saved HTTPS OPDS/Kavita source is contacted to retrieve its catalogue, covers and requested PDFs. That server receives ordinary request metadata and access tokens in the source URL; its privacy practices apply. Source tokens and cached catalogue stay in app-private storage. Book text indexing is optional; remote indexing starts only after confirmation on Wi-Fi. Temporary PDFs are deleted after extraction, the text index stays on this device, and offline PDFs are saved only when requested. Local imported PDFs are indexed privately. Page bookmarks and selected-text quotes remain private annotations and never alter your server files. This version has a manual prayer counter and tutorial; it does not activate a camera or microphone for prayer counting. Daily Quran reminders and widgets use saved device preferences.

Sakina for iPhone and iPad — Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Sakina is developed by Mohammed AlAbdulmohsen. It has no accounts, advertising or analytics. Prayer settings, bookmarks, reading positions and personal audio imports are stored on your device. iOS backups may include this local data.
Location is optional. Manual city selection works without GPS permission. Apple location and geocoding services resolve your coordinates, city and timezone for on-device prayer calculations and Qibla. The developer does not receive your location. Article refreshes contact WordPress.com; that service and external source websites receive ordinary request information and apply their own privacy policies. Bundled books, devotional texts and installed audio work offline; feedback and fresh articles require internet.
When you submit feedback, your category, message, optional reply email and selected attachment are sent to private support through the developer's B2D Advisory service. Cloudflare Workers, D1 and R2 provide hosting/storage; Resend delivers notifications to a private support mailbox. A receipt reference and a hash of the request IP are stored to prevent spam and duplicates. Data is used for support, corrections and app improvement, not advertising or tracking. Server copies and mailbox messages remain until the developer deletes them; automatic expiry is not implemented.
Wallpaper saving requests Photos Add Only permission. Sharing sends what you choose to the destination you select. File imports use the system picker and remain on your device. Sakina does not browse your photo library or upload your personal audio collection.
You can remove imported files in the app and revoke permissions in iPhone Settings. Deleting the app removes its app-container files; iOS controls shared widget data and backups. To request deletion of feedback, use the support form with the original receipt reference. Provide an email if you want a response. This contact form is also available without installing the app.
Optional camera and other features
The prayer counter starts in Manual mode without Camera permission. Automatic assistance is experimental and may miscount; it cannot determine prayer validity. If you start it and grant permission, a supported front TrueDepth camera provides temporary distance readings; Image trial compares temporary image features, and optional upright side view uses Apple Vision body estimates. Practice calibrates the open session only. Live frames, depth and reference features stay in iPhone memory and are discarded; no photos/videos or movement profile are saved, uploaded, shared or used to identify you. There is no background learning. Camera use stops on leaving, locking/backgrounding or capture interruption. No microphone is used by this counter. Revoke Camera access in iPhone Settings.
Tasbih voice counting is a separate optional trial. Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions are requested only when you start it. It requires supported on-device Arabic recognition, with no server fallback. No audio recording or transcript is saved or uploaded; numeric progress is stored locally. Listening stops when you leave, background the app or receive an audio interruption. Tap counting works without these permissions.
Personal documents, audio, links, reading progress, Today layout, reminder choices and widget preferences stay on your device, with shared widget settings in Apple's App Group. Files/iCloud providers and device backups follow your chosen provider settings. Prayer reminders are local notifications. The bundled counter tutorial works offline without Camera; its dismissed preference and App Store review-request dates are local only. Sakina does not know whether or how you rated it. No prayer history or persistent calibration is stored.
Optional Quran meanings, tafsir references, recitation and audio downloads contact their selected providers, including QuranEnc, MP3Quran and source websites. Those providers may receive your IP address and ordinary request information and apply their own terms and privacy policies. Requested meanings and downloaded files may be cached locally. Learning reference links open only when chosen; Sakina does not add your location or prayer settings. The app's support service also processes a receipt, hashed request IP and submitted app version/build for support and anti-spam purposes. It does not receive prayer-camera imagery.
